Mayor's Message | ourballarat spring 2023

Mayor Dr Des Hudson poses with arms crossed in front of town hall

Delivering a better Ballarat for generations to come is at the heart of the City of Ballarat’s city-wide transformational capital works program. We’re investing in infrastructure that will make our city a great place to live, work and invest.

However, delivering a capital works program of this magnitude requires a substantial amount of behind-the-scenes work.

You’ll meet some of the project managers working hard to deliver these major capital works projects.

From Her Majesty’s Theatre refurbishment to the Sebastopol Community Hub development, the Major Projects team are working hard in the background to ensure these facilities have maximum benefit for the Ballarat community.

The Ballarat International Foto Biennale is back with an impressive range of photographs on display throughout the city.

As you’ll read, the biennale is offering a three-day pass this year – why not invite your friends and family from out of town to attend the Biennale and show them around our great city? The team at Ballarat In The Know have some suggestions of things to do while you’re not at the Biennale.

Spring is a great time to get back outside and to enjoy the many benefits of spending time in nature. You’ll read about Ballarat’s many tracks and trails, and the team that manages them.

Alternatively, you’ll learn about the Nature Stewards program – a 10-week course for people interested in learning more about the natural environment around them. You can join the Autumn 2024 intake.

Finally, discover how the City of Ballarat is helping local businesses and social enterprises do good in the community.

A City of Ballarat strategic partnership with nonprofit Runway has been helping local businesses think outside the box to generate community wealth in more ways than one.

We have also included your updated Waste and Recycling Collection Calendar as a reminder of your weekly collection dates.
