Residents can dispose of asbestos at the Ballarat Regional Landfill (by appointment only) on Thursdays between 10am and 12pm. Call 03 5342 8540.

About asbestos

Our role in asbestos

Our Environmental Health team helps manage environmental factors that may harm human health, this includes asbestos.

Examples of asbestos issues we manage:

  • Unsafe removal of asbestos by owners and occupiers of private homes.
  • Dumping of asbestos materials.
  • Complaints about asbestos materials in poor or unsafe conditions (not in workplaces).
  • Community concern about removal of asbestos in the neighbourhood.

Mould

Mould is a type of fungi grows best in damp and poorly ventilated areas. If you can see or smell mould, you should immediately clean up and remove the mould. The longer it grows the more damage it can cause.
