City of Ballarat ongoing social activities

Come and try a new activity and soak up the benefits of social connection and exercise. All classes are $5 per person, excluding the group exercise at Mount Pleasant Reserve which is at no cost.

No bookings are required for weekly classes, just turn up and join in the fun!

Please note: Classes will not run on public holidays

Strength for Seniors – Mondays

What to expect: Strength based fitness for over 55’s to increase strength, mobility, balance and confidence

When: Mondays
Time: 2pm-3pm
Where: Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre, Tuppen Street Sebastopol 
Cost: $5 per class, payable via EFTPOS at the door

Dance for Mobility and Balance - Mondays and Tuesdays

What to expect: A fun, individual dance class to help improve mobility, strength, and balance

Tai Chi - Tuesdays and Fridays

What to expect: Slow and gentle movement that helps with balance, strength, and relaxation

Qi Gong - Wednesdays and Thursdays

What to expect: Exercises focused on the mind, breathing and movement to help you feel relaxed and reduce stress

Movement Matters, Chair Based Exercise - Thursdays

What to expect: A seated exercise class to keep you strong and moving

Seniors Exercise Park Group - Thursdays

What to expect: An outdoor space with specialised exercise equipment to help improve strength, balance, mobility and falls prevention

The City of Ballarat Ageing Well team are excited to host a number of upcoming events for our 55+ years community.

Ageing with Pride Social Group - 1st Friday of the month

Presented by the Ageing Well Services Community Connector Team.

Come and join our Community Connectors as we celebrate our older LGBTI+ community and allies. This group provides a welcome space to meet new friends and have a chat about all things ageing with pride. Light morning tea provided.

When: 1st Friday of the month
Where: CoLab Space, upstairs in the Ballarat Library Doveton Street, Ballarat.

Wiser Driver Education Sessions - 11, 18 and 25 June

Are you 55+ and would like to maintain your knowledge and confidence on the road? 

The City of Ballarat - in partnership with RoadSafe Central Highlands - is offering the 'Wiser Driver' course: an informal, friendly refresher course for responsible older drivers. The complete course includes three sessions.

When: Three parts held on Wednesdays – 11, 18 and 25 June from 10am-12.30pm
