The hunt is on for Ballarat’s best ideas!

Local company Suggest It has joined forces with the City of Ballarat, Commerce Ballarat and Committee for Ballarat to capture great ideas for our business community by harnessing local, crowd‐sourced innovation.

A three-week competition from 17 April to 14 May will see customers use a digital suggestion box to leave their ideas for participating businesses.

The ideas must be positive, constructive and actionable.

At the end of the competition, Ballarat’s three final best ideas for improving a Ballarat business will be chosen by a panel of judges from the City of Ballarat, Federation University, Regional Development Victoria and Runway.

The businesses who inspire Ballarat’s best ideas will receive $500 in value towards implementing their ideas, with further support from our partners to ensure the idea can be put into action.

The customers/community members who come up with the bright ideas will also be rewarded with a $500 voucher to a local business of their choice, who is a Member of Commerce Ballarat.

Ballarat’s Best Ideas will be judged by a panel of judges from the City of Ballarat, Federation University, Regional Development Victoria and Runway.

Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney is confident Ballarat’s Best Ideas initiative will help unearth many wonderful concepts and ideas for the benefit of our business community.

Commerce Ballarat CEO Jodie Gillet says nobody knows business better than owners and customers. “This initiative is about unlocking the creativity, spirit and altruism of the Ballarat community to find ways for improving local businesses in a fun and exciting way.”

Suggest it is a digital suggestion box for businesses or organisations and was developed by Ben Wearne and Nick Clare in response to their belief in the power of cooperation and collaboration to spark innovation.

“We know that everyday people have great ideas about how their local businesses could be improved, from their local hairdresser to their regular mechanic or favourite coffee shop. We want these people to get involved, sign up and submit their ideas over the coming weeks,” he said.
