Statement in support of State Government funding for manufacturing
The City of Ballarat welcomes this significant investment in manufacturing and the future of heavy industry in our region.
This support from the state government will mean more jobs and prosperity for Ballarat.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney, said the funding, announced ahead of Thursday’s state budget, is a big win for our city.
“This is a considerable investment in Ballarat from the state government. We have a proud history of manufacturing in our city and this funding allows us to continue that history for years to come with 150 new jobs right here in Ballarat.”
City of Ballarat CEO, Mr Evan King, said the announcement is one that can be celebrated by everyone who lives and works in and around Ballarat.
“This investment in Alstom is great news for our city. More jobs and more investment in the region is of benefit to the whole community. I’m proud the trains used in our capital cities and around the country will continue to be made right here in our backyard,” he said.
