1000 DOORS WILL OPEN ON AUGUST 25

 Art installation 1000 Doors – Door Within A Door will now open its maze-like portals to the Ballarat public from Wednesday 25 August until Sunday 3 October. The event will be located in Armstrong Street South between the Town Hall and Myer.

1000 Doors – Door Within A Door was created by artists Christian Wagstaff and Keith Courtney, who were the masterminds behind the highly successful House of Mirrors, now located at MONA in Hobart. 

Cost is $10 and free for children under five and adults over 75.

 ARMSTRONG STREET SOUTH – TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

 Armstrong Street South from Sturt Street to the rear of the Town Hall will be temporarily closed for 1000 Doors, including set-up and dismantle from 7pm on Sunday 15 August until 9pm on Saturday 9 October 2021. 

Access to Bath Lane and the car park at the rear of the Town Hall will be maintained, coming from the south (Dana Street). Access to the Myer loading dock will be unimpeded, as delivery vehicles will be able to access the loading dock via Dana Street (not Sturt Street). The Ballarat Information Centre long vehicle / caravan parking at rear (south) of the Town Hall will be temporarily relocated to the front of the Town Hall in Sturt Street. The Taxi Rank outside Myer will be temporarily relocated to two angled ¼ hour car parks out the front of the Central Square Post Office, Phoenix Mall, Armstrong Street South.

VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL SERVICE – SUNDAY 15 AUGUST 2021

A commemorative service will be held on Sunday 15 August at 11am at the South East Asian War Memorial (corner of Sturt and Dawson Streets).

From 6.30am Sturt Street will be closed to both west and east bound traffic. At 10.30am Vietnam veterans will gather on Lyons Street, prior to marching down the north side of Sturt Street to Dawson Street. The formal service will commence at 11am.

The service is expected to conclude by noon with Sturt Street re-opened to traffic by 3pm. Prior to 3pm Sturt Street will be blocked in both directions from Lyons Street to Dawson Street;

• West bound traffic on Sturt Street will be diverted into Dawson Street South to re-join Sturt Street via Lyons Street.

• East bound traffic on Sturt Street will be diverted into Lyons Street North to re-join Sturt Street via Dawson Street.

Dawson Street North and South will be closed to through traffic at the Sturt Street intersection.

PTV bus stops in block 500 of Sturt Street both North and South will be closed between 6.30am and 3pm, please access the next nearest bus stop convenient for you.

Pedestrian access to shops and services is always available during these altered traffic conditions.

Speed restrictions and some short delays are expected; therefore, all road users are reminded to approach the area with caution and follow the direction of marshals and police.

NOMINATE NOW FOR THE 2022 BALLARAT COMMUNITY AWARDS

Celebrate Ballarat’s outstanding achievers by nominating them for the 2022 City of Ballarat Community Awards. 

 Nominations for the awards are now open and will close on Friday 1 November 2021.  

The Awards will be presented at an official presentation and citizenship ceremony in January 2022.
