Expressions of Interest sought for City of Ballarat Disability Advisory Committee 

Council is seeking expressions of interest for 2 – 3 vacancies on the City of Ballarat Disability Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to advise Council of the issues people with disabilities face in relation to Council’s programs, services and infrastructure. The Disability Advisory Committee consists of a broad selection of local community members and some service providers who have knowledge of disability and who advocate for people with disabilities. The Disability Advisory Committee meets for approximately 1.5 hours every two months. 

Please express your interest by writing a short letter about your personal experience and/ or professional expertise that is relevant to this Committee. Representatives from local services are encouraged to also include a copy of their current curriculum vitae.

Have Your Say on the Draft Budget 2021/22

The Draft Budget 2021/22 is now live on the City of Ballarat website, and we want to hear your feedback. Submissions received will help shape this and future City of Ballarat budgets.

Draft Budget 2021/22 Highlights

• $130.9 million for capital works
$6.9 million for road renewal projects at sites including Mount Pleasant, Buninyong and Ballarat North, $1.6 million for footpath works at sites including Alfredton, Brown Hill, and Wendouree, and $2.6 million for drainage projects.

$1.68 million for community infrastructure
Includes Sebastopol South Kindergarten expansion,Brown Hill Hall final works and enhancements at Rowan View Preschool, Wendouree.

• $2.2 million for rural roads
An increase of $900,000 on last year’s budget for renewal of gravel roads and major patching works on rural roads.

• $2 million For LED streetlights
Plus $250,000 to progress a Materials Recovery Facility business case, $500,000 for street trees, and $10,000 to start a Net-Zero Community Emissions Plan.

Submissions must be received before 9.00 am on Monday 7 June 2021.

Council will consider all submissions regarding this matter at an Unscheduled Meeting of Council to be held at 6.30pm, Wednesday 9 June 2021 in the Council Chamber, Ballarat Town Hall.
