Let’s Chat Councillor Roadshow
Councillors are hosting in person drop-in sessions within their wards over the coming months. The sessions provide an opportunity for ratepayers and residents to give ward-specific feedback to their Councillor and help shape the future direction of the City of Ballarat.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering is very important in our community. You can join hundreds of local volunteers who regularly give their time and energy to help others, and we have opportunities for people of all ages.
- Age Friendly Ambassadors
For people aged at least 55 years who are passionate about being involved in their community and representing the views, ideas and needs of older people in the Ballarat area. - Social Activity Volunteers
Promote and support opportunities for older people to participate in accessible, inclusive, and affordable social and recreational initiatives. - Youth Volunteers
Youth Services is currently looking for dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic young people, aged 13– 25 years to become Youth Ambassadors, Young Eventsters and FReeZA Sonika committee members. - Ballarat Ambassador
Provide information on Ballarat to our visitors, demonstrating your love and knowledge of the city and its rich history and adding to Ballarat's reputation as a friendly, welcoming and culturally vibrant city. - Parent Place Volunteer
Parent Place helps families with young children to thrive, providing useful information and community links in an inclusive and safe space. If you have special interests or skills (such as craft, musical instrument, or more) or just a passion for helping families, we would love to hear from you.

Have you recently switched to electric?
The City of Ballarat is leading an initiative to help you reduce your cost of living and live more comfortably in your home by transitioning off gas and upgrading to energy efficient, electric appliances. Purchase and installation must occur between 16 March and 16 September 2025.

You can then:
- Set your address
- Set a time for your kerbside bin reminder
- Review your calendar for kerbside collections including household waste, green waste and mixed recycling
- Find recycling drop off locations nearby
- Review the A-Z of waste to discover what items go in each bin
- Access Ballarat Transfer Station's opening hours, fees and a list of what can be taken to the Transfer Station for free.
