NAMING PROPOSALS - OPEN FOR PUBLIC COMMENT  

The City of Ballarat has prepared the following proposals to name roads within the Municipality. The proposed names are in bold italics.  

NP 237 - Name an unnamed road in Glendaruel – Nyaninyuk Road  

Details of the proposal may be obtained from Council’s Customer Service Centre, 25 Armstrong Street South, Ballarat Central, or via the City of Ballarat Website at mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au.  Submissions regarding this proposal must be received be addressed to the Manager Revenue and Procurement Services at Reply Paid 655 BALLARAT VIC 3353 or by emailing info@ballarat.vic.gov.au, no later than 5.00 pm on Friday, 19 August. All submissions must be in writing. 

BALLARAT SENIOR OF THE YEAR AWARDS 

The City of Ballarat 2022 Ballarat Senior of the Year Awards are now open for nominations.   

The awards are Council’s way of acknowledging Ballarat residents 55 years and older who give their time and efforts back to the Ballarat community.   

For our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents, eligibility commences from 50 years or older.

Closing date for nominations is Sunday 4 September 2022 with shortlisted nominees contacted in mid-September to advise they are being considered for an award. 

CITY OF BALLARAT REUSABLE NAPPY, SANITARY AND PERIOD PRODUCTS REBATE 

You can now apply to get some of the money back after purchasing reusable nappy, sanitary and period products.   

Households can apply for:  

  • 50% of the purchase price, up to $100, for reusable cloth nappy products,  

  • 50% of the purchase price, up to $100, for reusable sanitary products, and  

  • 50% of the purchase price, up to $50, for reusable breast pads. 

When you apply, you need to supply a copy of your receipt and proof of residence such as rates notice, drivers' licence, utility bill or another document with your address.  

The program allows for one application for each product type per household.   

Applications can be made online at ballarat.vic.gov.au or at the City of Ballarat Phoenix Building Customer Service Centre on Armstrong Street South.  

Successful applicants will have the rebate transferred to their bank account within 21 days of the application being approved. 

2022/23 COMMUNITY IMPACT GRANTS OPEN 

The first round of the City of Ballarat Community Impact Grants for the 2022/23 financial year are now open for applications for local not-for-profit incorporated organisations, groups, or associations. Non-incorporated groups may also apply if they have an auspice relationship with an incorporated group. 

Applications are now being accepted for the program, which provides up to $20,000 in funding to support community groups and organisations to run projects, programs, events, and other activities or to buy necessary equipment to promote community outcomes in: 

  1. Environmental sustainability 

  1. Healthy, connected and inclusive communities 

  1. Community capacity building
