REDEVELOPED BALLARAT LIBARY 

 The Ballarat Library’s first major redevelopment and expansion since 1993 

is now complete.

The redevelopment of the Ballarat Library includes an expansion of the second level of the building, a new entrance, purpose-built teaching areas, quiet areas, open space, as well as specialised children and family areas.

Some new features include:

  • Curved work benches in the large rotunda space, with views and wifi for people to work, study and read from.  
  • Heritage collection, unique items changing regular on display.  
  • Library lounge, couches and armchairs for people to relax and read in with views out to the courtyard.  
  • The atrium space, with tiered couch seating for people to enjoy.  
  • Children’s area, a sensory play area, with reading nook, tree trunks and cubby houses for children to play in. There are more than 17,000 children’s books and children’s computers.  
  • Co-Lab, a youth lounge, community kitchen, gaming consoles and public computers. 
  • Community meeting rooms that can be booked by the public.  
  • Maker Space, creative technology including 3D printers, vinyl cutter, heat press, sewing machines and digitisation equipment.
