Online System for Regional Travel Exemption Scheme

The City of Ballarat has developed an online form to help Melbourne residents apply for approval to carry out emergency flood and fire prevention works on properties they own in the Ballarat municipality.
The Victorian Government scheme allows people from Metropolitan Melbourne to apply, via local Councils, for approved travel into regional Victoria for summer preparedness works. visit forms.ballarat.vic.gov.au/EmergencyPreparationWorksPermit
Travel is only allowed if the applicants agree to comply with Public Health directions that apply in Metropolitan Melbourne, even when in regional Victoria.
The City of Ballarat’s online system gathers information to establish property ownership and eligibility before generating a letter of approval.
As part of the application process, people are required to provide additional details including the intended works to be undertaken; the period of intended travel, including the dates of travel and the duration of stay by the owner, and will be advised that only members of their immediate household may travel and record the names of those travelling.
They will also be issued with a letter from the Chief Health Officer outlining responsibilities and the penalties for failing to abide by the conditions of the letter to travel.
