Mayor’s Message - Friday 18 April 2025

Like the rest of the nation, Ballarat has a growing population of older adults, with nearly one third of the city’s residents aged 55 and over.

The City of Ballarat’s Ageing Well in Ballarat Strategy 2022 – 2026 outlines our vision to create an age friendly community where people feel valued, connected, included and respected, as well as feel confident to participate fully however they choose.

To help achieve this vision, we are currently seeking expressions of interest from committed and enthusiastic people 55 years and over to join the inaugural Age Friendly Ambassador Program.  

Through regular meetings and informal networking opportunities, these Ambassadors will serve as a crucial link between the City of Ballarat and older adults. They will have the opportunity to provide feedback on projects and events, engage with the local community and provide valuable insights to guide the City of Ballarat’s actions in making the community more age-friendly.

If you are interested in applying or know someone who would be a good candidate, complete an expression of interest. Forms are also available from the Phoenix Building and Ballarat Libraries.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy Easter. This is always a great time of year to catch up with family and friends, with no shortage of events and activities taking place around the region.
