Ballarat – a finalist in the Top Tourism Town awards 2022

The City of Ballarat is urging community members and visitors to tap into their pride and love of Ballarat and vote for the city in the 2022 Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards. 

The community vote carries a 25% weighting to the overall result, so lovers of Ballarat are strongly encouraged to vote.  

Ballarat has been listed as a finalist for its submission which includes a self-drive itinerary through Ballarat and surrounds, displaying some of the best the city and region has to offer.  

The itinerary showcases local producers and operators such as the Shared Table, 1816 Bakehouse, Saltbush Kitchen and Ballarat’s Sanctuary Day Spa.  

It also offers an opportunity to promote up-and-coming businesses such as Renard, Jean-Claude (Van on a Dam) and Ellington’s Wine Bar.  

The itinerary further celebrates Ballarat’s scenery with a walking tour of street art throughout the Ballarat CBD, Lal Lal Falls and Ballarat Botanical Gardens.  

The Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards highlights the value of tourism to the diverse range of cities and regions across Australia. 

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney said he was thrilled Ballarat was defending its title as the Victorian Top Tourism Town, after it took-out the award in 2021. 

“Ballarat offers a perfect weekend away for anyone who enjoys fantastic food and wine experiences served with history, a dash of culture, and adventure,” he said. 

“There are so many amazing regional destinations across Australia to visit, but Ballarat has something for everyone, with easy proximity to Melbourne.  

“We are thrilled to be in the running to win the Victorian Top Tourism Town for the second year in a row, and we ask our wonderful community members and visitors to vote for our great tourism offering.”
