Victoria Park to be closed to the public for music festival setup

Crowds at the 2019 Ballarat Spilt Milk festival.

Access to Victoria Park will be restricted to members of the public from Monday 28 November.

Event preparation works are currently taking place at Victoria Park as festival organisers begin setting up for the Spilt Milk music festival. First held in 2019, the event returns for its second year in Ballarat and is expected to attract about 30,000 people.

The one-day music, food and art festival will be held on Saturday 3 December from 11am-11pm.

Members of the public will be unable to access Victoria Park from Monday 28 November until at least Wednesday 7 December.

Spilt Milk organisers have conducted letter drops in the area to notify surrounding neighbours about the event, including information about amplified music and road restrictions.

Sound engineers have worked to ensure there is minimal ‘noise spill’ into surrounding areas.

The following road closures will be in place to ensure the event can be safely delivered:

  • Cedar Drive, Poplar Avenue, Caretakers Drive, Elm Avenue and Pine Avenue: closed from 6am on Monday 28 November until at least 6pm on Wednesday 7 December.

  • Oak Avenue: closed from 6am on Friday 2 December until 6pm on Sunday 4 December.

  • Gillies Street: southbound traffic closed between Arthur Street and Winter Street, 8pm on Saturday 3 December until 1.30am on Sunday 4 December.

Amplified music will be used between the following times:

  • Friday 2 December 2022, 4pm-10pm (sound check)

  • Saturday 3 December 2022, 9am-11am (sound check)

  • Saturday 3 December 2022, 11am-11pm (event)

The Victoria Park Inclusive Play Space will only be closed on the day of the event, Saturday 3 December. Pedestrian access to the park will remain open via footpaths on Friday 2 December and Sunday 4 December.
