City of Ballarat welcomes Continuous Voices funding commitment

The City of Ballarat has welcomed Thursday’s promise from the Federal Member for Ballarat Catherine King that the Albanese Government will commit $500,000 toward delivery of the Continuous Voices Memorial if it is returned at the 3 May federal election.
City of Ballarat Deputy Mayor Cr Ben Taylor said the promise means all three levels of government will partner to fund the Continuous Voices Memorial.
“Council’s hope is that the federal Coalition will match this promise so that funding for the memorial is guaranteed regardless of the outcome of the election,” he said.
Continuous Voices is a community-conceived memorial for victims and survivors of sexual assault, a place for continuing stories, healing and hope.
The $1.5 million memorial will be built in Victoria Park. City of Ballarat is contributing $520,000 and the Victorian Government $500,000 toward the cost of the project.
