The City of Ballarat is asking all residents for their input into the new inclusivity framework plans that are now out for public exhibition and comment.

As well as being on display digitally via the City of Ballarat MySay portal, there will also be four community drop-in sessions to review and discuss the new documents.

Residents will have a chance to speak with City of Ballarat staff and learn more about the plans and strategies at the following sessions:

  • Tuesday 30 August, 11am–1pm, Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council, Barkly Square, Ballarat East

  • Thursday 1 September, 3pm– 4.30pm, Sebastopol Library

  • Thursday 8 September, 3.30pm– 5pm, Ballarat North Community Centre

  • Thursday 15 September, 4.30pm– 6pm, Sebastopol Library

The six new plans designed to create a more inclusive Ballarat community have been released for public exhibition following the City of Ballarat’s August council meeting.

The draft documents include a new Inclusion Framework 2022–2026, Reconciliation Action Plan 2022–2024, Intercultural Plan 2022–2026, Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2022–2026, LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Plan 2022–2026, and Ageing Well in Ballarat Strategy 2022–2026.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney, encouraged all residents to have a look over the documents and provide their feedback on the plans.

“We have conducted an extensive community consultation and worked with our community advisory committees in putting these plans together and now is the final step for the community to let us know if we’ve got these plans right.

“They will form the basis of many of the city’s programs, services and strategic direction for years to come so it is so important everyone in Ballarat has a say in the future of inclusion for our city.

“This is our chance to make sure that our city is one that is welcoming and respectful of all people and to embrace the things that make us all unique.”

The documents will be available for public exhibition via the City of Ballarat MySay portal from Thursday 25 August until Wednesday 21 September.
