Safety is an issue that concerns everyone in the community. It is not just an issue for Council or the Police. It's about everyone taking responsibility to ensure their personal environment is as secure and safe as possible, and working together to create a community that is inclusive, active and confident.
The State Government has recently incorporated a "Hoon Hotline" component within the existing Crimestoppers service to provide the wider community with the opportunity to report dangerous and irresponsible driver behaviour via a single telephone hotline.
Members of the public will now be able to report hoon activity to police by telephoning Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. (Callers to Crime Stoppers do not have to give their name).
Since July 2006, over 4000 vehicles have been impounded in Victoria at a rate of approximately 70 per week.
For incidents that require an emergency response dial 000.
