Update - Interim heritage protection for 436 Wendouree Parade was approved by the Minister for Planning, Council are still awaiting the Minister’s determination of the request for permanent heritage approval.
The City of Ballarat is proposing to apply heritage protection to the dwelling at 436 Wendouree Parade. The dwelling, known as Selkirk House, has been identified to be of heritage significance due to its associations with renowned architect Mr. Robin Boyd.
What does the amendment propose?
The proposed amendment will result in the listing of the property in the Schedule to the Heritage Overlay (HO196), with external paint controls, and internal alteration controls applying. The following changes to the Ballarat Planning Scheme are proposed:
Insert a new heritage place HO196, known as Selkirk House at 436 Wendouree Parade, Ballarat, in the Heritage Overlay by amending Map 15HO and the Schedule to the Heritage Overlay.
Insert a new reference document in Clause 21.10 of the Ballarat Planning Scheme –'Heritage Assessment – Former Selkirk House, 436 Wendouree Parade, Ballarat.

The formal public exhibition period for Amendment C188 will commence on Thursday 4 December 2014.
