Amendment C168 - Changes to Advertising Sign Controls in the Public Park and Recreation Zone (PPRZ)

The amendment gives Council greater discretion when assessing applications for advertising signage within the Public Park and Recreation Zone (PPRZ).  This Zone includes recreation reserves, sports grounds and facilities across Ballarat, including some sports grounds with which local clubs have a permanent association.  This amendment is intended to make it easier for local sports clubs to display sponsorship related advertising signage on land used by the club, in an appropriate manner.

What the amendment does

The amendment proposes to amend the Schedule to Clause 36.02, the Public Park and Recreation Zone (PPRZ) of the Ballarat Planning Scheme, to include all land in Signage Category 3 – High Amenity Areas rather than signage Category 4 – Sensitive Areas, as the PPRZ currently requires.  The amendment also proposes to amend Clause 21.10 to reference the updated version of City of Ballarat Advertising Sign Guidelines – July 2013.
