Stand for Ballarat City Council

Interested in standing in the upcoming local Council elections? Come to a Community and Candidate Information Session

 

Local residents interested in standing in the upcoming local Council elections are invited to attend a Community and Candidate Information Session on Monday 6 June. 

Presented by the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV), the session covers:

How to stand for Council
The role and purpose of local government
Councillors' roles, responsibilities and expectations
The municipal area
The electoral processes
Councillors' experiences

The Community and Candidate Information Session is on 7 to 9pm, Monday 6 June at Ballarat Town Hall, 225 Sturt Street. 

The Council elections in October 2016 will determine the Ballarat City Council 2016-2020. 

The City of Ballarat has joined the MAVs state-wide Stand for Council campaign to encourage citizens to consider standing for council and to help candidates understand what is involved in becoming a councillor.
