Parent Place services

At Parent Place, everyone is welcome. Parent Place helps families with young children to thrive, providing play-based learning, social and community connection and helpful information in an inclusive and safe space.  

When you visit a Parent Place location, you will be greeted by our friendly volunteers and staff. You can enjoy daily activities a fun range of toys and activities to support your child’s learning and development and welcoming spaces to feed, change, relax and connect with other parents.  

Our knowledgeable team can support you with information and assist you to connect with services for families with young children including: 

  • playgroups
  • kindergarten
  • childcare
  • family day care  
  • parenting
  • family violence
  • family law
  • feeding and mealtimes, including breastfeeding
  • sleep and settling  
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Immunisation

Plus, a wide range of local Ballarat services for families and children. If you have a question, we will help you find the answer.

Parent Place is wheelchair accessible and designed to be inclusive to all. If you have any questions about accessibility at Parent Place, please get in touch.

Parent Place Ballarat Central
Address: 39 Sturt Street Ballarat Central
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9.30am-2.30pm

Sebastopol Library Community Hub
Address: 181 Albert Street, Sebastopol
Hours: Every Monday,9.30am-2.30pm  

Djila-tjarriu Community Hub
Address: 18 Donegal Drive, Alfredton
Hours: Every Friday – 9.30am-2.30pm

Activities and Services

Every day there is something fun to explore at Parent Place. Our sessions across locations include:  

  • Exploratory play
  • Craft
  • Mindfully me
  • Baby Play
  • Shake, Rattle n’ read

We have a range of free drop-in partnering services located at our Parent Place Ballarat Central location, these include:  

City of Ballarat Maternal and Child Health Sleep and Settling
Hours: Tuesdays, 9.30am-12.30pm

City of Ballarat Maternal and Child Health
Hours: Fridays, 9.30am-2.30pm

Relationships Australia Victoria Early Matters Program
Hours: 9:30am-2:30pm, fortnightly on Wednesdays

Parent Pathways Support
Hours: 9:30am-2:30pm fortnightly on Wednesdays

Ballarat Grampians Community Legal Service
Hours: 10am-12pm, drop-in fortnightly on Thursdays. Appointments available outside of this time.

Kindergarten Registration Information
Hours: 9:30am-2:30pm Thursday

The following services are available by appointment:  

  • Berry Street family violence support
  • Grampians Health Lactation Consultant (bookings made through Grampians Health on 5320 6871)
  • Sleep and setting clinic
  • Ballarat and Grampians Community Legal Service – free legal advice
