Kick back, relax and enjoy summer in Ballarat’s CBD at the City of Ballarat’s Backyard Tasters event.

Come and enjoy magical music, fabulous food, arresting artistry and delicious company!

Backyard Tasters will be held 17 and 24 February, 6 to 9pm at Alfred Deakin Place, Camp Street.

BYO chair and picnic or enjoy local eats and drinks from select vendors.

Auslan interpretation provided.

Representatives of some of Ballarat’s ethnic communities accept Uncle Bryon Powell’s Welcome to Country.

 

Caylee Sandwith

Performing for 4 years, singing & playing acoustic guitar, Caylee loves nothing better than exploring different familiar musical pieces and interpreting them in her own way.

 

Jana Nikolic

Laid-back vocal and acoustic guitar performance combining a mix of old, new and  original songs.

 

Grammar Bluegrass Band

Performing a mix of traditional bluegrass instrumentals and songs that are sure to put a smile on your face and a bounce in your step.

 

Afrobics

Afro Beat collective Papa Chango and the 80’s Fit team come together to present Afrobics, with synchronised work-out moves, a live 10-piece band, and all the spandex you can handle. For your cardiovascular enjoyment – get your leg-warmers moving & work off that pizza and ice cream!

The Vests Duo:Geoff Hassall & Pat McCabe

Predominantly instrumental and improvisational, with street grooves created from guitars, percussion and loops, with songs as the starting point. Busking is their music therapy!

Performing an eclectic mix of original music inspired by pop, noir & social conscience rock’n’roll.

 

Captain Pugwash

5-piece ensemble combining old hands with emerging talent, delivering 1st wave ska with a reggae backbeat, playing originals & covers re-imagined into their own style.

 

Michael Westlake Trio

Bringing funky swingy Latin acoustic jazz with a touch of the electronic, with the audience sometimes part of the soundscape where virtuosic modern jazz meets the funnybone.

Fed Uni Arts Academy performance students, directed by Rick Chew, infiltrate & ambush, transforming everyday places through pop-up songs and flashmob performance into impromptu celebrations of song.

 

Ballarat Ukulele Group (BUG)    

A community group that comes together through the love of the uke, to be found at many a neighbourhood event.

 

Josh Woods

Funk jazz soloist improvising & riffing in the style of Maceo Parker & Richard Elliot.
