Apply for report and consent to demolish
Though administered via Section 29A of the Building Act 1993, report and consent for demolition is managed by the Statutory Planning department.
Report and consent must be issued prior to the commencement of demolition works.
Report and consent is not planning approval and is sometimes required in addition to a planning permit.
Apply for report and consent to demolish
To lodge, please be sure to have the following key information to hand:
- Any relevant planning and building permit application reference number(s);
- A full and current (no older than 30 days) copy of certificate of title, including the Plan of Subdivision and correct ownership details; and
- A digital copy of your plans and any supporting documents.
Following receipt of a request for report and consent, Statutory Planning will determine if a planning permit is required and, if so, if a permit has been issued.
If a planning permit has been issued and the extent of demolition proposed matches that approved by the planning permit or where a permit is not required to demolish, consent will be granted.
Consent will be refused where a planning permit is required for demolition and has not yet been obtained.
The City of Ballarat cannot issue report and consent for demolition:
- Where the City of Ballarat is not the Responsible Authority for the land;
- Where a planning permit has been issued by the Minister for Planning; or
- In relation to permits issued for sites on the Victorian Heritage Register (VHR).
