ROAD PROJECTS UPDATE
Gillies Road reconstruction, Ascot
The reconstruction of Gillies Road in Ascot, from Addington Road to Glendonald Road, is expected to be complete by the end of January, subject to weather conditions.
The project has replaced the existing narrow road with two 3.5m-wide lanes and 1.5m-wide road shoulders, bringing the link road up to modern standards.
It was originally earmarked to be completed in December but was impacted by higher than average rainfall and cooler than average weather in November.
This reconstruction project is separate to the section of Gillies Road where a nanotechnology trial was conducted in 2025.
Greenhalghs and Finchs Road roundabout, Bunkers Hill
The construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Greenhalghs and Finchs Road in Bunkers Hill is also advancing.
The project also includes splitter islands, raised safety platforms, new lighting, line-marking and minor drainage, as part of the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program.
Traffic through the intersection remains fully closed and is expected to partially re-open on Tuesday 27 January.
From 27 January, eastbound traffic on Greenhalghs Road and southbound traffic on Finchs Road will reopen to local traffic.
The project is expected to be fully complete on in March, subject to weather conditions.
Tuppen Drive reconstruction, Sebastopol
The reconstruction of Tuppen Drive in Sebastopol, adjacent to Phoenix P-12 Community College, is also nearing completion.
Before 27 January, access will be available from Hill Street.
From 27 January, access will be available from Hertford Street, in time for the 2026 school year.
Full completion and reopening is expected by the end of February.
