Road closure – Ballarat Winter Festival

To cater for the build, operation and dismantle of the pop-up ice skating rink for the Ballarat Winter Festival, the following road closure will occur:

Armstrong Street South from Sturt Street to the rear of Town Hall will be closed until 5pm on Friday 24 July. The road may re-open earlier subject to weather conditions.

Please note:

Access to Bath Lane will be maintained.
Access to the Myer loading dock will be unimpeded as delivery vehicles will be able to access the loading dock via Dana Street (not Sturt Street).
The Ballarat Visitor Information Centre long vehicle/caravan parking at the rear (south) of Town Hall will be temporarily relocated to the front of Town Hall in Sturt Street.
The Taxi Rank outside Myer will be temporarily relocated to the two angled 1/4-hour car parks out the front of the Central Square Post Office on Armstrong Street South.

Dyson Drive resurfacing

Asphalt resurfacing works on Dyson Drive between Cuthberts Road and Ballarat-Carngham Road has commenced.

The works will take place in stages over 6 weeks with delays to traffic expected. Local access to properties will remain for the duration of works, however detours will be in place for all other traffic.

Please follow VMS and traffic management signage.

Funding to support these works is via the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery program

Changes to metered parking fees in the Ballarat CBD

From Saturday 1 August, parking fees at metered bays in the city centre will increase from $3.00 to $3.60 per hour. The first hour of parking will remain free of charge.

Parking fees apply Monday-Saturday, 9am-5.30pm. Parking is FREE Sundays and public holidays.

City centre metered parking fees, effective from 1 August 2026:

On-Street Parking: $3.60 per hour
Anderson St Carpark: $3.60 per hour, $6.50 capped daily fee
Doveton St Carpark: $3.60 per hour (No capped daily fee)
Field St Carpark: $3.60 per hour, $6.50 capped daily fee
Peel St North Carpark: $3.60 per hour, $6.50 capped daily fee
Peel St South Carpark: $3.60 per hour, $6.50 capped daily fee

Ballarat’s Big Bite

Join us on Tuesday 4 August for Ballarat’s Big Bite, a spectacular community event celebrating the launch of Ballarat’s Best Pie 2026.

We're packing Civic Hall with pastry lovers for Ballarat's biggest gathering of people eating pies at the same time.

Yes, you read that right! We want you to come and eat a (free) pie for breakfast with hundreds of other pie fanatics.

Adding to the excitement, the event will be broadcast live on Channel 7's Sunrise, showcasing Ballarat’s pie-making pride to audiences across the country.

Doors open at 6am and close at 7am, with the event starting at 7.15am. The record-breaking Ballarat's Big Bite will be broadcast live on Sunrise at 8.10am.

About Rex

Rex may come off shy st first but is a big sweetie learning to trust people. He may hide initially but will come out once he is comfortable and settled into his new home.
