City of Ballarat 2026-2027 Budget process consultation
In preparation for the 2026/27 Budget, the City of Ballarat is inviting the community to explore how the annual budget is developed, and how it funds the services, projects, and infrastructure residents rely on.
This is an opportunity to better understand Council’s Integrated Planning Framework, how funding is allocated, and check whether community priorities identified in 2024 are still on track.
Community consultation is now open until Friday, 31 October. Residents are also invited to attend drop-in sessions at the Phoenix Customer Service Centre, 25 Armstrong Street South, Ballarat Central, to speak directly with the City of Ballarat Finance team:
- Monday, 20 October, 2pm-5pm
- Wednesday, 22 October, 9am-12pm
- Tuesday, 28 October, 2pm-5pm
- Thursday, 30 October, 9am-12pm
For more information and to share your thoughts on the budget process, visit the City of Ballarat Budget 2026-2027 MySay page or contact the Finance team on 5320 5500.
Help us understand safety in Ballarat’s public spaces
The City of Ballarat is seeking to make Ballarat a safer place for everybody – and your input is needed.
The Safer Ballarat Community Safety Mapping Tool allows residents to report specific safety issues or areas of concern they have identified throughout Ballarat.
Relevant data collected will be shared with the Ballarat Community Safety Alliance and City of Ballarat teams to support the creation of safer and more welcoming public places across our city.
To take the survey, visit the Safer Ballarat MySay page or complete a hard copy of the survey at The Phoenix Building, 25 Armstrong Street South, Ballarat Central.
Eureka Café Lease EOI
An exciting hospitality opportunity has come about to operate a café at the Eureka Centre.
The Centre is inviting expressions of interest from a café operator with creativity, flair, and strong business acumen to seize a rare opportunity to establish a high-quality café experience that enriches and complements the Centre’s unique visitor offering.
Welcoming around 55,000 visitors annually, the Centre connects people from around the world with one of Australia’s most significant foundation stories – the Eureka Rebellion.
The café site has the potential to be a natural gathering place for the Ballarat East community, whether they visit the Centre, the adjacent park, playground or swimming pool, or simply the café itself.
Expression of interest closes on Wednesday, 22 October. For more information, visit eProcure.
Notification of works: Bridge Mall
Rectification works to repair bluestone pavers on the carriageway in the Bridge Mall will begin week commencing Monday, 13 October.
Bridge Mall will need to be pedestrian only during the works with no vehicles able to enter from Grenville Street or park in the mall.
Pedestrian access will remain open, and all businesses will be trading as usual.
Clear signage will be in place to direct traffic accordingly while the works are being carried out.
These repairs fall within the Defects Liability Period and are undertaken at no additional cost to the City of Ballarat.
Pet of the week: Chevy
Meet Chevy, this delightful girl has a knack for getting along with just about everyone, including both feline and canine companions, making her a perfect addition to a multi-pet household.
Chevy is well-versed in basic commands and is toilet trained, which makes integrating her into your home a breeze. Her gentle demeanor does not overshadow her playful side, as she's always up for a bit of fun and interaction. She thrives in an active household, where she can join her family on adventurous outings, long walks, or energetic play sessions in the backyard.
While Chevy has a heart full of love for other dogs and cats, she's not suited to living around livestock. However, given the opportunity to be part of a family that loves outdoor activities, she shines bright as a loyal and affectionate friend.
To meet your new pet contact the Ballarat Animal Shelter on 5334 2075 or email animalshelter@ballarat.vic.gov.au, see all pets for adoption on Pet Rescue
