Mayor's Message - Friday 4 July 2025

From the windows of Town Hall we have watched in anticipation this week as the intersection of Sturt and Armstrong Streets transform into the home of the 2025 Ballarat Winter Festival.
The ice rink, which has become a fixture of the festival, is ready to go, waiting for those who are brave enough to test their balance and agility on the slippery surface.
What is truly special to see is the multi-generational appeal that the ice rink has, with parents and grandparents more than willing to give the young ones a steady hand as they make their way around.
Alongside the ice rink, a new source of interest this year is the construction of the Ukiyo tent. Situated in the centre of Sturt Street, the tent has room for 200 people and will host a wide variety of performances to entertain every member of the community.
Children and parents alike will laugh, gasp and cheer throughout the action-packed performance of Mister Spin, a highly skilled, comic vaudevillian-style, street circus act.
The Kiki and Pascal Show is the funniest love story of all time. A rom-com unlike any other, the show includes singing, juggling, contortion, interactive comedy, acrobatics and a surprise magical ending.
Very few performers are happy to put the destiny of the show into the hands of the audience, however The Great Dave does. He offers the audience the chance to suggest different juggling styles, leaving him improvising his way out of the seemingly impossible suggestions.
These and other performances take place every day throughout the winter holidays, commencing Saturday 5 July. Depending on the time of day, performances are tailored to children, families and adults only, so make your choice and book online via ballaratwinterfestival.com.au
Tickets are available to purchase at the Ukiyo tent, however advanced bookings are recommended to guarantee your seat and avoid disappointment.
So throw on that winter coat and beanie, embrace the chill and discover the Ballarat Winter Festival for 2025. I look forward to seeing you out there.
