It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Ballarat!

The decorations are up, the lights are twinkling, and there’s a wonderful sense of festive anticipation in the air.

Every year Ballarat comes alive for the holiday season, but this year there is even more reason to enjoy the Christmas cheer.

The display of decorations now stretches from Dawson Street South all the way to the end of the Bridge Mall, creating a one-kilometre trail of Christmas magic both day and night.  

The new decorations in the Bridge Mall are a real highlight, creating a stunning festive entryway featuring a vibrant “Merry Christmas Ballarat” sign, a five-metre high Christmas tree, and a sparkling bauble bench – the perfect spot for a Christmas photo with friends or family.

And of course, some much loved favourites are back again, including the “Archway of Stars” at the intersection of Doveton and Sturt Streets, and the iconic giant bauble glowing brightly in Queen Victoria Square.

Beyond the decorations, there’s so much to see and do across the city. From 12 December, enjoy live music and roving entertainment every weekend, explore the Christmas in Ballarat Art Trail, and enjoy a range of shopping events and markets.  

Families won’t want to miss Santa’s Red Telephone Booth at the Visitor Information Centre, providing a chance for little ones to leave a personalised message for Santa and share what’s on their wish list this year.
