Mayor's Message (6 August 2020)

Mayor's Message (6 August 2020)

By now you will be aware that the recent rise in the number of COVID -19 cases in Victoria has meant regional areas of the state, including Ballarat, have returned to stage three restrictions from today.

It goes without saying that this is extremely challenging for our whole community.

But it is what we must do.

There are many impacts on businesses and workers, and on teachers and families who have returned to remote learning this week.

Please continue to be kind, be patient with your loved ones and look out for those who are vulnerable.

Please also continue to support local businesses whenever you can.

I urge people to follow the Chief Health Officer’s directions, stay home unless you need to go out for work or study, shopping for food and essentials, care and care giving and daily exercise.

If you do go out, make sure you wear a mask.

The return to stage three has seen the closure from today of several City of Ballarat facilities, including the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre, the Art Gallery of Ballarat and our libraries network.

For the latest information on those major facilities, I encourage you to look to their websites. You can also check the facilities updates link on the City of Ballarat website.

I want to also reiterate the message to be kind and thoughtful to each other, and get tested if you have any symptoms of coronavirus.

Ballarat’s two testing sites are the Ballarat Community Health COVID-19 testing centre, at the Ballarat Senior Citizens Centre in Little Bridge Street (1800 054 172), and Ballarat UFS COVID-19 testing clinic at Lucas (4311 1571).

Anyone showing even the mildest of symptoms should get tested and remain in self-isolation until you receive your results.
