Learning from home
Many schools across Victoria have now reopened, however the message from the Victorian Government is clear – if students can stay home, they must stay home. This can provide new possibilities and struggles for parents navigating learning from home.
Here are some links you may find useful during this time.
- The Department of Education provides information for parents with kids of all ages. There is now a specific section to support learning from home.
- Parentline offers confidential and anonymous phone counselling for parents and carers of children from birth to 18 years old. Your mental health during this time is important, remember to Be Kind to yourself.
- ABC Australia and the Victoria Government have teamed up to expand the education programming on offer to bring the classroom home. More than 4,000 videos, resources and games are available on the ABC website that match up with the Victorian Curriculum.
If you're feeling concerned about your child's safety online, visit the eSafety Commisioner's website for resources to support parents and carers. Online safety kits, webinars for parents and carers, and information about cyberbullying and online abuse, are available to support your online learning journey.
The City of Ballarat’s Be Kind team have also put together these free downloadable planners to print off and use for planning your routine. We recommend using these to keep track of your days, with a kid-friendly version for your child to write out their days too. Remember to also enjoy the spontaneous moments as well as the scheduled ones.
