Community Composting
What is Community Composting?
Community composting is when people bring their food scraps (like fruit peels and veggie bits) to a shared compost bin. This helps:
- Turn waste into healthy soil for gardens.
- Keep food out of landfill, which is better for the environment.
- Bring people together to learn and care for nature.
One of the largest community composting sites in Ballarat is at Food is Free Green Space on the corner of Ripon St South and Urquhart St. Many other community gardens will also have a community composting site.
Compost bins and worm farms
Residents in the City of Ballarat can access up to 80 per cent off the retail price of compost bins and worm farm products through Compost Revolution. You can visit our Food waste and compost page for more information.
