Ballarat Seniors Exercise Parks
City of Ballarat is proud to offer three Seniors Exercise Parks designed to help older residents stay active, connected and confident in moving through daily life.
These outdoor spaces feature equipment tailored to the needs of seniors, encouraging gentle strength training, balance work, mobility and social interaction.
Whether you're looking to build physical confidence, try something new or simply enjoy time outdoors with others, our Seniors Exercise Parks are free, inclusive and available all year round.
About the Seniors Exercise Parks
Each park includes a variety of age friendly exercise stations that support:
- Balance - including safe, controlled challenges
- Strength - using body weight and low impact resistance
- Mobility - improving joint movement and everyday function
- Coordination - through multi step and upper/lower body exercise stations
Our equipment is designed to be approachable for beginners while still offering progressions for those wanting more challenge. The equipment layout at each of the three parks is identical.
Why Visit a Seniors Exercise Park?
Research from National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) shows that older adults who use these parks regularly often experience improvements such as:
- Increased strength and mobility
- Better balance and steadiness
- Increased leg and core strength
- Reduced joint pain
- Improved walking confidence
- Greater social connection and wellbeing
These parks are designed to help older residents maintain independence, prevent falls and enjoy outdoor activity in a safe and supportive environment.

Health and Safety
The information on this page is designed to help you get started confidently. If you’re new to exercise, haven’t been active for a while or have any health or medical concerns, it’s a good idea to speak with your healthcare provider before beginning. They can offer guidance on how to start safely and reduce the chance of discomfort or symptoms.
Please use the equipment and follow the exercises at your own pace and discretion. Begin gently and build up gradually. It’s far better to enjoy steady progress than to push too hard and feel sore the next day. Listen to your body and take breaks whenever you need.
