Railway Level Crossing Closures

The City of Ballarat has been approached by V/Line to consider the possible closure of three railway level crossings on government roads for which Council is the Responsible Authority.  The level crossings are located  at Grays Road (Bald Hills), Andersons Road (Tourello) and Tourello Road (Tourello).

The V/Line proposal for the closures results from safety surveys undertaken at the level crossings which were instigated as part of the planning process for the return of V/Line  passenger services to the Ballarat-Maryborough line later this year. 

Council invites any person or organization to provide comments or make a submission on any or all of the three V/Line proposals.  As per the requirements of Section 12 of the Road Management Act 2004, a minimum submissions period of twenty eight (28) days is required from the date of publication of this notice.  Submissions received by close of business, 5:00pm, on Monday 15 February, 2010 will therefore be formally considered. 

Persons or organisations providing written submissions delivered to Council prior to the closure date who make a request (within their submission) that they be heard in support of their submission,  are entitled to appear in person or by a person acting on their behalf before a council panel appointed to consider such submissions.
