Respite services support the caring relationship by providing the carers of frail older people and people of any age with a disability, with a break from their caring responsibilities. They also provide an opportunity for the person being cared for to have a break, or an outing without their usual carer.
How much Respite Care can you have?
Respite Services are offered:
- for short periods on a regular weekly basis, or
- occasional care for longer duration when required, usually once a month
- variation to these can oocur, depending on the individual needs of the client and their carers.
Where is the Respite Service Provided?
Respite can be:
- in the clients home on a one to one basis
- in the community to enable the client to participate in individual or group activities (e.g. sport)
All our home carers are appropriately qualified and matched to the individual needs of the client and carer.

What Will it Cost?
The Respite Care Program is a government funded program available to eligible people. Fees are determined by a means test.
Respite is not available to provide care while the usual carer undertakes paid employment or unpaid volunteer work.
