TOWN HALL PLAZA - COMMUNITY FEEDBACK

Ballarat residents are encouraged to have their say on the look and feel of the proposed Town Hall Plaza, following the endorsement of a report presenting the draft design concepts at an Ordinary Meeting of Ballarat City Council last night (22/09).

The draft concepts present two alternative options for the north and south entrances to the proposed Town Hall Plaza space.

These alternative options will be fully explored during the community consultation process before the project moves to the detailed design development stage.

City of Ballarat Portfolio Councillor for Growth and Development Craig Fletcher said the development of the draft concept designs was a direct result of community consultation undertaken during development of the CBD Strategy.

“The community identified the need for a ‘civic heart’ for our city and these draft concept designs reflect this vision.

“We are now inviting the community to have their say as part of the next stage of this project. It is this feedback that will ensure the proposed design and functionality of the space meets the needs of our community.

The community can view copies of the draft design concepts and provide feedback by:

  • completing an online feedback form, click here;
  • visiting Council’s Phoenix Building and filling out a feedback form; or
  • attending an information forum for traders, businesses and residents on Wednesday 20 October from 5.30 - 7pm, venue to be advised. Registration is required, please call 5338 4692.

Community consultation on the Town Hall Plaza concepts will be open until Friday 22 October, 2010.
