Her Majesty’s Final Seat Sale

Following the successful completion of the Her Majesty’s Ballarat Redevelopment, individuals, local businesses and community groups have a final opportunity to own a piece of our city’s history. Applications for the Final Seat Sale are now open and close on Friday 16 December 2016.


For all orders less than 10 seats, the cost is $20 per seat. For orders of 10 seats or more, the cost is $15 per seat. Availability of decorative ends, $50 each, is extremely limited.

Project: New theatre seats and upgrade to provide a contemporary theatre experience.

Project status: COMPLETED - February 2016.

Project cost: $1.148 million by City of Ballarat. The redevelopment was a popular project of the 2014/15 Budget Priority Projects Survey.

Project delivered:

  • New theatre seats – 890 seats with improved access for DDA
  • New, specially designed carpet for the entire building
  • Realignment and reinstallation of foot warmers
  • Patch, repair and polish flooring
  • Carpentry works to stairs
  • New vinyl flooring in the Balcony and Dress Circle levels
  • Electrical works and lighting connection
  • New communications infrastructure
  • Painting and general construction works

Bring home the best seat in the house!

As part of the upgrade project, Her Majesty’s Theatre presented the public with a unique opportunity to purchase the former Theatre seats.

In January 2016, hundreds of theatre lovers placed their bid and a total of 464 seats found a new home in interesting locations including many local homes, cafes and businesses, schools and dance clubrooms, and 150 seats will deck out the Murtoa Mechanics Hall.

The Seat Sale was the creation of the Her Majesty’s Fundraising Committee, a passionate group of local people dedicated to the preservation of our historic theatre. Bidders were encouraged to name their price for a piece of Ballarat’s history, and more than $13,685 was raised for future restoration of Her Majesty’s Ballarat.
