A major redevelopment project to upgrade the oval and lighting at the Alfredton Recreation Reserve is now underway.
A $1.3 million oval reconstruction includes new subsurface irrigation and drainage, spoon drain, fence, sand profile, turf and coaches boxes.
An additional $345,000 will be invested in a lighting upgrade for Reserve which will see the installation of new lighting towers and luminaires to light the oval to 200 lux. This will bring the Reserve up to semi-professional level and will mean the Reserve has the capacity to host local night matches.
The reconstruction of the oval has commenced with major works expected to be complete by the end of the year, with a maintenance period to extend to the start of the Ballarat Football League 2016 season.
Lighting works are expected to be delivered by early 2016.
The City of Ballarat is working with the Ballarat Football Netball Club and the Ballarat Redan Cricket Club to carry out the project.
The project is fully funded by the City of Ballarat as part of the 2015/16 Budget.
