The proposed community outdoor gym facilities around the Lake Wendouree foreshore will deliver a social outlet that maximises the benefit of an active lifestyle and healthier mindset that hopefully combats the obesity issues currently prevalent in our society at large.

Project BenefitsTop of document.

The benefits to the Ballarat community, to the Lake Wendouree environment, to user group and to the general public are extremely positive on many levels when they are designed to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle.

With a steady rise in adult obesity, the promotion of regular physical activity and actively moving our bodies is now a public health priority in all regional communities. The Western Bulldogs (in association with a corporate partner) believe that the timing is right to think about new ways to make physical activity and better lifestyle choices more accessible, more affordable, more enjoyable, and ultimately, more beneficial to the Ballarat community. The use of outdoor fitness equipment found in parks / public areas are providing a variety of meaningful outcomes to communities that have resulted in a more vibrant and happier community environment.

Together we can effectively promote the benefits of outdoor fitness spaces and take the right steps in making tomorrow a healthier place for the next generation.

Project FinancialsTop of document.

The supply and installation of 4 primary and 4 secondary outdoor gym facilities around the Lake foreshore is estimated to cost approximately $272,000.

The facilities are robust and durable and should have no major operating costs to maintain.

The Western Bulldogs (in association with a corporate partner) are proposing to fund the project.
