You are invited to provide feedback on the proposed combined rezoning of land and Stage 1 Master Plan works of Ballarat Clarendon College Sturt Street Campus.
What does the combined Amendment and Planning Permit application propose?
The land affected by the Amendment is Ballarat Clarendon College Sturt Street Campus as shown in ‘Plan 1’ consisting of the following properties in Newington: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17,18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 Ajax Street, 1 Murray Street and 1415-1425 Sturt Street, Newington and sections of Murray and Ajax Streets which are proposed to be incorporated into the school site.
Amendment C207 to the Ballarat Planning Scheme proposes to:
Rezone all land within the Campus from a combination of Special Use Zone Schedule 5 Private Education Establishment (SUZ5) and General Residential Zone (GRZ1) to SpecialUse Zone – Schedule 17 (SUZ17)
Insert a new Schedule 17 – Ballarat Clarendon College Sturt Street Campus (SUZ17) to the Special Use Zone
Amend Planning Scheme Map 22
Include the Ballarat Clarendon College Sturt Street Campus Master Plan 2017-2030 (Master Plan) as a background document in the planning scheme.
Planning Permit application PLP/2017/444 Stage 1 of the Master Plan proposes the:
Demolition of three dwellings,
Demolition of tennis courts,
Partial demolition of existing school building,
Relocation of a dwelling
Modifications of two dwellings into school buildings
Development of a multi-purpose sports playing field
Construction of an onsite staff car- park
Construction of an underground stormwater detention tank
Associated buildings and works including:
Development of fences, road works, car parks and
Removal of pedestrian easement.

Amendment C207 and Planning Permit application PLP/2017/444 will be on public exhibition from Thursday 14 February 2019 to Tuesday 19 March 2019.
Any person who may be affected by the Amendment or by the granting of the permit may make a submission to the planning authority about the amendment and the application. Submissions must be made in writing giving the submitter’s name and contact address, clearly stating the grounds on which the Amendment is supported or opposed and indicating what changes (if any) the submitter wishes to make.

Name and contact details of submitters are required for Council to consider submissions and to notify such persons of the opportunity to attend Council meetings and any public hearing held to consider submissions. In accordance with the Planning and Environment Act 1987, Council must make available for inspection a copy of any submissions made (please contact Council’s Privacy Officer on 5320 5500 if you require further information).
Council will consider all submissions received during this formal consultation period. If there are issues that are unable to be resolved, Council may request that an independent Planning Panel hearing take place to consider the submissions. Council would then consider the recommendations of the independent Planning Panel before deciding how to proceed.
