Half-Cost Fencing

Under the Fences Amendment Act 2014, Municipal Councils who own or manage land for the purposes of ‘public park or public reserve’ are excluded from contributing to dividing fences.

Where the City of Ballarat is the freehold owner of adjoining land that is not a ‘public park or public reserve’ Council will consider sharing costs.

Under the Road Management Act 2004, Council as the maintaining authority is not required to fence or contribute to the fencing of any portion on a road.
