Family Day Care

What is Family Day Care?

Family Day Care is a popular alternative to centre-based care. It offers low educator to child ratios in a home-based environment, where siblings can be cared for together.

This is home-based care, with a ratio of one early childhood educator to four pre-school aged children, with up to seven children in total. It offers family care (i.e siblings are cared for together), and care for school-aged children until the end of primary school and beyond in special circumstances.

Family Day Care can be tailored to meet each family’s needs and parents choose their child’s educator. It is particularly suitable for parents who have unusual work hours and those who require care before and after school, and during school holidays.

Family Day Care can provide kindergarten and school transportation for children enrolled in and attending the Family Day Care program, and there is the opportunity for overnight and extended care for children in certain circumstances under Centrelink guidelines.

All of our educators have a childcare qualification, police check, Working with Children check, first aid training and all homes are safety approved. A qualified coordinator and field officers monitor educators through regular visits.

Parents who use Family Day Care are eligible for the Federal Government Child Care Subsidy.
