07/05/2012 - The City of Ballarat has today closed Lake Learmonth due to high levels of algae identified in a water sample tests.

Based on discussions with the Regional Blue Green Algae Response Plan Coordinator, and to reduce risks to the health of people and animals, the City of Ballarat has today closed Lake Learmonth to the following purposes:

  • No swimming, water sports, wading.
  • No fishing.
  • No extracting water for stock or domestic use.
  • No stock or pets should be allowed to make contact with or drink the water.
