Christmas in Ballarat

The City of Ballarat's creative Christmas decorations and installations bring Ballarat's streets to life each December.

This year the City of Ballarat’s popular floral Christmas reindeer will return to the Sturt Street Gardens, outside Myer.

Once again, families can have their photo taken sitting in the reindeer sleigh. Each year the popular floral attraction continues to attract families both locally and from surrounding areas.

This year the City of Ballarat has introduced an interactive Christmas 'art walk', which will feature a series of street art projects to engage with and photograph.

The interactive Christmas 'art walk' includes a series of free 3D optical-illusion artworks - which have been created by Anton Pulvirenti and Rudy Kistler at Zest Events International - featured throughout the CBD.

The immersive 'trick art' painting and murals are set to unleash the imagination of passersby.

You can pick up a map from the Visitor Information Centre at the Ballarat Town Hall, Sturt Street.

A festive diorama, with special Christmas-themed scene built inside a shipping container at the Bridge Mall, is also expected to capture the imagination of the Ballarat community. This has been created by local artists Zlatko and Margie Balazic.

Local artist Melinda Muscat has also created a festive window, on display at the Ballarat Mining Exchange for the entire month of December.

In true Christmas spirit, the Sturt Street Christmas tree, giant baubles and ribbon, Christmas-themed flags, planter boxes and garden beds will also return.
