Australia Day

 

Each year Ballarat residents choose to spend their Australia Day by the shores of Lake Wendouree with their family and friends to see the city's fireworks display.

Road closure
The City of Ballarat will advise residents of any road closures via its Public Notice Board, social media accounts and online.

Alcohol Free Zone
Ballarat Botanical Gardens and Lake Wendouree foreshore is generally an alcohol free zone from 3pm on Australia Day.

Parking
The City of Ballarat advises that no parking restrictions apply on Australia Day around the Lake precinct, but residents are urged to take care when leaving the precinct due to increased traffic.

Lake Wendouree closure
Lake Wendouree is closed for all waterway activities during any fireworks displays on Australia Day.

Take care of your pets
Residents are encouraged to take care of their pets during fireworks displays. Please ensure your pets are kept secure and indoors if needed.

CitySafe Taxi Ranks are a community safety initiative of the City of Ballarat and key partners. Supporting positive behaviour and enjoyment of Ballarat’s late night entertainment precinct.

Two security guards staff each rank, from 1am to 6am, Friday and Saturday nights.
