2012 BALLARAT HERITAGE AWARDS

Nominations are now open for the 2012 Ballarat Heritage Awards.

The City of Ballarat, in partnership with the National Trust, are proud to present the Ballarat Heritage Awards 2012 to recognise those in our community who have demonstrated excellence in retention, restoration, enhancement and reuse of our heritage places.

Our heritage includes public and private places, buildings, gardens and objects. Heritage places are an integral part of the Ballarat community and the Ballarat Heritage Awards highlight our commitment to celebrate and promote our heritage.

The awards aim to recognise excellence in heritage conservation and to encourage community awareness of our heritage.

The awards are open to domestic and commercial projects, from both government and non-government sectors.

 Award nominations are sought in categories for:

• Creative reuse of a Heritage Place
• New/Work/Development within a Heritage Area
• Restoration of a Heritage Place
• Specialist Heritage Trade Skills – sponsored by Haymes Paint
• Sustainability and/or Greening of a Heritage place

Nomination forms can be downloaded from below or a hard copy can be collected from Council’s Customer Service Centre, The Phoenix, 25 Armstrong Street South, Ballarat.

Finalists will be invited to the Awards Presentation at the Art Gallery of Ballarat on the evening of Friday 11th of May 2012.

Things to remember:

• Completed nomination forms and photographs must be received by 5pm 13th March 2012.
• The nominated place must be located within the boundaries of the City of Ballarat.
• Anyone may nominate a place, however the owner’s approval must be sought and given on the nomination form.
• Each nominated building or work in each category must have an individual nomination form.
