PLAYGROUPS

Playgroups provide parents and caregivers the opportunity to meet new people, gain support and exchange parenting ideas. They allow babies, toddlers and preschoolers to socialise as they play and learn together. All playgroups are different but the emphasis is on fun and friendship.

PLAYGROUPS REGISTERED IN BALLARAT

A playgroup is made up of a group of parents and children who meet regularly to play and socialise. The content and structure of playgroups varies according to the parents and childrens' needs. There are a large number of playgroups in Ballarat, and some of them are listed on the City of Ballarat's online Directory.

To find out about other playgroups contact Playgroup Victoria (see below) who maintain a list of registered local playgroups. Some churches and primary schools run playgroups and your local Maternal and Child Health Centre may also be able to assist you to find a local group.

NEW RESIDENTS FUNCTIONS

If you are new to Ballarat, you may wish to attend one of Council's 'new resident' functions. Approximately four functions are held every year giving new residents an opportunity to meet others, and to find out what services are available from Council and the general Ballarat community. Childcare is available for FREE at each event.
