ENHANCED HOME PARENTING

Overview

This outreach service provides an intensive in-home program for a period of up to 10 weeks for families with children from birth to four years of age, with a particular focus on babies under 12 months.

The program targets families experiencing difficulties caring for their children, high-needs families, teenage parents and families in crisis. The enhanced program is staffed by Maternal and Child Health Nurses and a Family Support Worker and has a strong focus on the health, development and wellbeing of children.

Services provided include:

• practical information and support
• support for breastfeeding and settling issues
• counselling for parenting issues
• support for postnatal depression, anxiety and emotional wellbeing
• behavioural strategies  suitable for babies, toddlers and preschoolers
• information and referral to other specialst services within the community
• key visit checks for child's growth and development
• immunisation information and advice
