CHILD CARE CENTRE - GIRRABANYA

Providing high quality childcare and kindergarten services to Ballarat families since 1992, Girrabanya Children's Centre provides care responsive to the child and familys' needs.

Childcare is provided for 35 places and is structured as follows:

• small relaxed age-based children's groups
• children's' programs with emphasis on meeting individual and group needs through stimulating and responsive experiences and play
• opportunities for family involvement in all aspects of service delivery
• creative and nutritious meals and snacks, accredited with 'Start right, Eat right'
• committed professional staff
• natural outdoor environment

Kindergarten is provided for 25 places and is structured as follows:

• an educational program for 4-5 year olds
• flexible delivery for working/studying parents
• excursions into the local community
• opportunities for special days and visitors
• a stimulating, secure environment nurturing individuality
• childcare available before and after kinder sessions

Staff ratios at Girrabanya are one staff member for every five children under the age of three years old, and one staff member for every 15 children over the age of three years.

'Girrabanya' means 'place of possums', black-tailed possums to be exact, and the name was decided upon in consultation with the Ballarat Aboriginal Co-Operative in 1992.

Accreditation

Hours & Costs

Opening hours are Monday to Friday - 8.00am to 6.00pm.

The Centre is open 48 weeks per year, with a holiday program available to those needing care during January.
