Ballarats Cultural Heritage and Commitment.

The City of Ballarat acknowledges the Wathaurung peoples as the traditional custodians of the land on which its community live.  Our community has strengths and assets, and we seek to  develop and build on these, taking into account the diversity of our community through the Ballarat Reconciliation Action Plan

In 2003, the City of Ballarat embarked on a journey of reconciliation with local *Aboriginal people and a Statement of Commitment was developed through a process of negotiation and consultation.

Cultural Diversity and Relationships

‘Ballarat: an inclusive intercultural city’ is a community that looks at what its people already have in common. We may all come from different backgrounds and cultures, but as a community, we share the same schools, businesses, work places, recreation spaces and much more. Our intercultural city builds on the concept of ‘all of us’ living together in a vibrant, diverse and harmonious community.  Learn more about Cultural Diveristy in Ballarat through the Cultural Diversity Strategy

Multicultural Programs and Services

Regional Skilled Migration Program is a free service which can assist migrants and employers.

The City of Ballarat has compiled this City of Ballarat Multicultural Community Services Directory  as a result of our ongoing commitment to providing better information, access and equity for our local Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.

The directory, complimented by the Guide to Finding Work in Ballarat Australia, helps us acknowledge the contributions of CALD groups to the social, economic, cultural and environmental health and wellbeing of our city.

For a hard copy of the directory please contact the City of Ballarat on 5320 5180 or 5320 5831.

The directory covers local, regional and state information about services and groups focusing on, and/or relevant to, those arriving in Ballarat from other countries. We consider this a 'living' document, so if you notice any details that require updating or amendment, please contact the City of Ballarat on the numbers above, so that corrections can be made.
