COMMUNITY SAFETY ACTION PLAN
Continuing the Development of the new Community Safety Action Plan
The Ballarat City Council is committed to enhancing Ballarat as a regional safe city and is in the process of developing a new Community Safety Action Plan.
The development of this Plan will be instrumental in identifying issues of safety within the Ballarat area.
Council has already carried out the first phase of community engagement which informed and shaped the Plan development so far.
The first phase included:
- An online survey made available on Council's website and through the My Ballarat magazine
- Surveying at key bus stops across Ballarat
- Conducting Community Listening Posts at key community events
- A Stakeholder Summit with key community safety and crime prevention partners
All information from this phase of the community engagement has now been collated and has formed part of the identified draft priorities and recommendations within the new Community Safety Action Plan.
A short draft document of the new Community Safety Action Plan will be officially launched in October as part of Community Safety Month activities. This will outline the proposed themes, issues and directions of the new Plan. It will also mark the beginning of the second phase of community engagement, in the development phase of the new Plan where you can provide us with further feedback during the month of October.
It is anticipated the final and full version of the Community Safety Action Plan will be available in early 2009.
